For this project, 3Dmedicus designed a user’s guide which was incorporated in the Alpha-spot kit—a single-use blood collection kit which tests for Alpha 1-antitrypsin deficiency (AATD). For use by lung specialists and health professionals, the α-spot kit contains all of the necessary components for taking a capillary blood sample on filter paper. 3Dmedicus included detailed instructions: preparing the patient, taking the blood sample with a lancet, depositing drops of blood on the filter paper, applying a sterile compress and sending the samples.
